I have been able to gleen a bit of insight from the URLs below, but I think what I'm missing is the (Microsoft) reference for what goes on the right side of the equal sign. The bigger issue for me is understanding filter for Get-View. $VirtualMachines = Get-View -ViewType VirtualMachine -Property Config -SearchRoot $ClusterFilter ![]() $ClusterFilter = Get-View -ViewType ClusterComputeResource -Property Name -Filter = $ClusterName } | select -ExpandProperty MoRef Originally from "Performance difference between GET-VM and GET-VIEW" ( ![]() The immediate issue is the specifications for match "Red Hat Enterprise Linux*". If the filter is left out I end up with all virtual machines. I have the following code snippet to find all virtual machines with the guest OS set to "Red Hat Enterprise Linux*".
